"Thank Offerings"

"My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank-offerings to you."  (Psalm 56:12 NRSV)

So we have been in Fort Collins Colorado for close to 10 weeks now – hard to believe I am saying this.  During this time I read Psalm 56:12 and have put into practice of regularly taking time to write in my journal what I am thankful for.

As many of you have been praying for our family during this season of transition here are some of things I most thankful for during the past 2 and ½ months.

Thankful  …

Both Rhett and Emersen have adjusted well to their new surroundings – making friends in the neighborhood and enjoying their new school.

Tara is enjoying her daily times with God as she has creation pathway and our neighborhood lends to this.

That some of the promptings I sensed God was leading me in has come to fruition in regards to Crossroads Church.

Our house in San Diego sold within 10 days of when we were scheduled to close on a purchase of a house here in Fort Collins.

For the countess amount of prayers offered up on our behalf during this season.

For the friends I have made in San Diego that will last a lifetime.

I am at a church that is allowing me to leverage my gifts to my fullest.

There is a Starbucks 6/10 of mile from my house.

There are rumors of a Costco coming to the Fort Collins area.

From day 1 of being in Colorado “unexpected friends” have been present that have made our settling into our new home easy.

My Lead Reads ... What's in My Kindle. Our family has been in a season of transition this summer and one area that has suffered as a result of being in continual packing and getting my house ready for sale mode is my self leading practices -- in particular my reading efforts. Reading daily is a part of my Life Plan replenishmnet cycle and is necessary for me to keep my thinking sharp and my mind active to be able to resource myself and others whom I lead and influence. As we settle in our new life in Fort Collins I am eager to get back into this practice of reading daily. On the right column "What's In My Kindle" is the books I have or will be downloading to read during the last four months of 2012. Some have asked me how I come with my list. Here is some ways I go about putting my list together. And I highly prod you to have a pipeline of books ready to read so once you finish one book you don't meander trying to figure out what's next, but rather having the next one ready to go! The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) this two day leadership training event usually produces a couple of books that catches my attention because either one of the speakers references the book or it is a book the speaker has wrote. John Ortberg's Who Is This Man ... is an example of such a book. There are some people I simply read whatever...

Why Go to Church! Our senior pastor at Crossroads Church in Loveland Colorado, @johnsmithcrsrds, has shared in a couple of leadership settings that statistics are showing that the average church attendere goes two out of every nine weeks. Stating the obvious -- this is not good! A few years ago in a leadership gathering with Bill Hybels, senior pastor of Willowcreek Community Church Bill shared five reasons why it is important to go to church -- I trust this will resonate with you. Jesus modeled it for us. He made it a practice of His. Luke 4:16 "When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom." A reminder that you are not alone -- that you are not crazy Important for our children. Your kids are depending on you They cannot drive themselves. The Power of the Manifest Presence of God -- Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Out of Discipline and Obedience.
