Yesterday I finished
The Laws of Simplicity by John Maeda. If there
was ever a book that addresses a current need in my life it is this
one. I am consistently requesting prayer on my behalf to help get rid
of the
clutter in my life externally and internally. This short book
that is only a 100 pages long is full of great insight on simplicity
that I found myself reading almost the entire book twice. And though
this book is not one that gives you strategy on eliminating clutter it
does heighten how we are to appreciate and embrace simplicity -- which
is incredibly beneficial. Here are a few quotes from the book that I
hope will prod you to read it.
"Humans are organization animals. We can't help but to group and categorize what we see." p. 18"Difficult tasks seem easier when they are need to know rather nice to know." p.42On
being a light bulb versus a laser beam: "You can either brighten a
single point with laser precision or else use the same light to
illuminate everything around you." p. 53
