If I were to some up Nancy Ortberg’s new book LOOKING FOR GOD in one word, it would be “Honesty.” Through 20 chapters Nancy presents a fresh look at faith by honest musings and recollections of every day life situations where if we are not paying attention we could miss God’s presence. I have heard Nancy speak on several occasions and you can hear her voice through these pages. It is a very refreshing and insightful book. I hope you will be prodded to read it.
Here are a few of quotes that have stood out from the book:
“In community, if someone else is not okay, then to some degree, I am not okay.” p.38
“Defining moments are only as good as the lifestyles they translate into.” p.107
“I have gotten to the point in my life where I am rarely surprised by my sin, just saddened by it”. p.108
“Real heroes lift our heads. They stir those places deep inside each of us that ached for meaning and significance and purpose and God.” p.128
