My New Word for Today

Continuing on in my learning discipline that I mentioned yesterday my new word that I had to look up its meaning is ...

"Recidivism," A slipping from a higher or better condition to a lower or poorer one.

A New Understanding of One's Own Worth I usually do not post on any book until I finish reading it. However, something I read today really moved me in significant way regarding why Jesus Christ died on the cross for me. It is from the book The Faith by Chuck Colson. p. 89: "Repentance and acceptance of Christ's saving work bring with them a new understanding of one's own worth that at first may seem paradoxical. However gravely I have sinned, Christ still thought I was worthy of His sacrifice. That's grace, indeed; that's love!" (underline emphasis, mine)

More Cell Phones, Less Phone Calls? Few things can wreck a meaningful moment in a church service or any public gathering for that matter then having a cell phone go off right at the very moment. In our attempts to help people more social conscious by announcing it or putting up signs that encourage people to either turn their phones off or put it to the silent mode there is always that one person. But there is hope despite ever increasing usage of cell phones. Now according to a recent study by Pew Internet & American Life Project just put out two days ago, the cell phone was listed in 2007 as the technology that they would have the hardest time giving up. This replaces the the land-line telephone that was listed as the hardest to give up in 2006. I want to prod you to read the study on your own for the finer details but I finished reading this study with some great insights. Here are a few of them: - The land-line is stronger than I thought -- I would have not guessed that in 2006 people were still tethered to their home phones. A lot of people I know have only cell phones and it has been that way for a few years now. - On the other hand -- technology is moving quicker than I can imagine it is amazing to me that in one year it moved from land line to mobile device as the hardest to depart with. -...
