Today I spent some time reflecting on how the Prayer Journal has had such a incredible effect on my life this past week. The theme was based upon the previous weekend message “Believe.”
I should not be amazed by this by now, but I am of how every devotion had something I needed to hear. Here is my recap:
Day 1:
The Scripture verse that days was Hebrews 12:2 and the importance of “fixing our eyes on Jesus …” I was challenged by the importance of focus. If we really evaluate our lives we would find how easy it is to multi-task – in fact very rarely are we not doing it. To focus and be present with one thing that is what takes real effort.
Day 2:
It is easy for me to see God has the leader of my life, my savior and even judge. What I do not do often enough is to see Him as my Abba Father – my Daddy. The breath prayer that day was a good way to keep in perspective of all the roles I play – probably most important is being one of His children.
Day 3:
Zephaniah 3:17 is a verse I pray over people on the day of their birthday – it is such a perfect verse for that. I have come to realize that I have never prayed through that verse for myself. Today’s activity challenged me to do so.
Day 4:
As a young and new believer Philippians 4:6,7 was a couple of verses that I committed memory close to 20 years ago. Twenty years later I still pray through this verse often and on this particular day it was a good reminder to give to God a couple of circumstances that were weighing heavy on me.
Day 5:
The fact that God is with me is with me everywhere I go is something I lose track of way to easy – today’s reading challenged me to re-engage with a practice that I came up with – “Praying Where You Are.”
Rod,
It was awesome to see your wife up on stage today. She did great! Here's to the XX chromosome!
